Our Story
We began in response to the 2022 Humanitarian Crisis in Ukraine.
Over the last few years, an Escape From Tarkov streamer known as Bobuubi has been broadcasting live from a real bunker in a military storage unit on the eastern edge of Ukraine, dangerously close to the conflict that has raged through the Donbas region for the better part of the last decade. On his website, Bobuubi (or Bob) explains that his streams are the only source of income for his family, and that he’s just trying to do his best to survive. However, the ongoing Russian invasion into Ukraine finally forced Bob to flee. On the evening of February 24 Bob was streaming with friends, as he regularly does, when he announced that he was going to have to leave. “I hope I’ll be able to see you again,” the heartbroken streamer told his viewers and teammates. “I’ll drive to my family and I’ll keep you updated.” Bob began to tear up as he thanked his followers for all their support, and expressed his wish that the conflict doesn’t spread any further than it already has. The footage has been circulated on Reddit, with thousands of users expressing support and sympathy. The streamer is just one of an untold number of innocent citizens whose life has been utterly upended by the unfolding chaos.
Bobuubi and his family spent the first 8 days trying to flee safely to the Ukrainian border with a surrounding country. During that time they witnessed some of the most horrific things. Things that they do not show in the media, things that you would only see in horror movies, including attacks on civilians and civilian buildings, notably a hospital.
The spirit of the Ukrainian people hasn’t faltered in the face of these horrors. Instead, it has shined during this time, showing the world how a proud country stands strong whilst being attacked in such a horrific manner.
Bobuubi and his family have decided to stay where they are while it is safe to do so. They are going to focus their efforts on providing humanitarian supplies and transporting families to the safety of the closest border. Bobuubi said “You all have made me into a hero, now I need to act like one.” In cooperation with the Red Cross we are moving aid for refugees in small villages in Ukraine, and assisting them in their own flight from the invasion.
